Hard water Tiverton, RI

Hard Water Solutions

Hard water is defined by higher levels of dissolved calcium and magnesium. It can make cleaning clothes more difficult.  Additionally, it creates streaking on dishes and glasses, scaling on faucets, shower heads and makes cleaning hair and skin challenging. It can also damage your home’s piping distribution system if not corrected. Fortunately, we are able to remove these minerals through the proven ion exchange softening process.

High Efficiency Water Softener

A softener is a type of whole house filtration system that is designed for removing magnesium & calcium, as well as dissolved iron and manganese from the water.  For high levels of iron or manganese (“the Stainers”), an “up-flow”  softener is recommended.   This will prevent mineral build-up in the bottom of the softener which can impact its effectiveness and longevity.  Also, high efficiency softeners that are more efficient with both water and salt usage are preferred and less expensive to operate in the long run.

BAD ODORS & TASTE  chlorine smell and taste in water Little Compton, RI

In addition to the above systems described, there are many other types of systems to remove bad tastes & odors, sediment and other objectionable minerals and contaminants in the water.  For example, if you are experiencing a rotten egg smell, you likely have hydrogen sulfide in your well..  This can also be caused by a high level of manganese in some cases.  A water test and analysis will lead to the best approach.  For more information on bad odors & taste, see the link at https://h2ocare.com/bad-odor-taste.
